On Faith

The daily, deliberate act of believing and becoming

Faith is not a thing you inherit and set on a shelf. It’s something you choose daily, in the small moments and the impossible ones. It shows up in how you wait, how you worry, how you treat the gravity of your own sin, and how you receive grace when you don’t deserve it.

Take Sin Seriously

There is no such thing as “getting away with it.” Even if you don’t “get caught.” Though grace and mercy is real and forgiveness is always possible, sin does still stain and should be held accountable always. And the spot will undoubtedly spread further and sink deeper into who you are than you can initially see. An honest person doesn’t need to remember what they said. Don’t play yourself.

Be Patient

Learn to wait well. Our society has injected this on-demand drug in our veins. We are used to getting things in an instant—but life doesn’t work that way and neither does God.

Do Not Worry

Worry will tie you in knots, keep you up at night and make you irritable. Make the best decisions you can right now—even if what you’re afraid of happens, God will help you find a way through it. He is always faithful.

Keep an Eternal Perspective

Train your eyes on this hope, “this inheritance, that will never perish, spoil or fade.” For it is in this that we are “filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.”

Embrace and Give Grace

Accept grace with open arms and an open heart. Hold it tight until it soaks into your soul. Then release it and give it away—to your family, your friends, your community and beyond.

The Algorithm: Overfitting

In machine learning, overfitting happens when a model becomes so obsessed with past data that it can’t handle anything new. It memorizes instead of learning. It clings to every detail and loses the bigger picture. Faith asks the opposite of us. “When to Think Less” isn’t about ignorance—it’s about trust. When you’ve analyzed every possible outcome and still can’t see the path, that’s when faith steps in. Worry is overfitting applied to the future: you’re trying to model every scenario, account for every variable, and the result is paralysis. Sometimes the most intelligent thing you can do is stop thinking and start trusting. God doesn’t ask you to have all the answers. He asks you to follow.

Stick these on your mirror
