Seek healing. Things simmer under the surface. It will surprise you at how suddenly it can boil and pull you under. There’s a lot of work needed to heal. Read a book, unplug intentionally, and find a trusted counselor you can go to regularly. Take care of your mental health, be kind to others and be kind to yourself. Before any healing can come to us as a people, we need to start healing our own hearts and minds. Self-care is healthcare.
Pain will find us.
While no one wants to experience pain, we all will.
Don’t be shocked.
Don’t ignore it.
When Everything Feels Heavy
If you feel like you hate everyone, eat something.
If you feel like everyone hates you, sleep.
If you feel like you hate yourself, take a long hot shower.
If you feel overwhelmed by your thoughts, write them down.
If you feel restless, take a walk.
If you feel anxious about the future, focus on the present.
If you feel like giving up, remember a time you succeeded.
A Little Effort Goes a Long Way
Every day people are faced with difficult challenges. Some are easily conquered and some are not. Many suffer from debilitating diseases, mental challenges, and physical disabilities. They put up a great front, try to be brave and smile, but deep inside the pain is real. Take the time to pray for those around you who face these things on a daily basis. Life is so precious and everyone deserves a fair chance in living it to its fullest potential. If you can help someone in need, put your best foot forward to do so. You’ll be surprised how you can touch someone in such a little way. A little effort, compassion, listening or being a shoulder of support can go a long way.
Remember caching?
In tech, caching is when your device keeps the stuff you use all the time “nearby,” so it doesn’t have to go hunting for it every single time. You’ve probably heard the classic: “Try clearing your cache.” (Aka: the internet’s version of “have you tried turning it off and on again?”) It caches the names you say most, the routes you drive without thinking, the phrases you repeat when life gets rough and the truths you reach for when you feel shaky. When we ‘forget’ it’s not always a glitch. Your mind is constantly deciding what’s worth keeping on quick access… and what can be released. Healing works a lot like that. You keep what helps you come back to yourself. The lessons, the people, practices, and reminders that can steady you. Caching, in this sense, is choosing what gets to stay within reach and it gives you permission to delete what no longer serves your healing. Because not everything deserves permanent storage in your heart.
